Program 'SPARKs' physical fitness for NC students
About 43 percent of North Carolina’s elementary and middle school students have habits that could lead to cardiovascular disease and diabetes later on in life, according to a study released this month from [NCAAHPERD].
The report [...] also found that 70 percent of school children don’t get the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended hour of daily exercise and that 47 percent spend two or more hours a day watching TV or on a computer.

The IsPOD initiative will obtain student, teacher, and class information via NCWISE in early September, 2011. Data will be imported into secure IsPOD databases immediately there-after.
Once FITNESSGRAM becomes available to North Carolina teachers, each physical education teacher will receive an e-mail with their FITNESSGRAM™ username & password, along with a link to access the application.
