North Carolina's Standard Course of Study has been completely overhauled and new standards are to be implemented in classrooms beginning in 2012-13. NC DPI provides an Instructional Toolkit designed to help teachers pattern their instruction and classroom student assessments to the state's newly adopted curriculum.
Below are the links to these new standards along with the newly written guidelines for Fitness Testing.

The note below is from Paula Hildebrand - Chief Health and Community Relations Officer, NC Department of Public Instruction, to the committee writing the new fitness testing guidelines:
Please accept my thanks for the great discussions and work that took place regarding the development of the Fitness Testing Guidelines! I believe that the final document accurately represents the work that was submitted and in a consistent format. The State Board of Education was pleased with the guidelines, as presented, and interested in the topic.
I did give a summary of what had taken place in NC with the FITNESSGRAM efforts and the work of NCAAHPERD as well as the number of LEAs which are voluntarily conducting fitness testing.

The IsPOD initiative will obtain student, teacher, and class information via NCWISE in early September, 2011. Data will be imported into secure IsPOD databases immediately there-after.
Once FITNESSGRAM becomes available to North Carolina teachers, each physical education teacher will receive an e-mail with their FITNESSGRAM™ username & password, along with a link to access the application.
Please do not send help-desk tickets requesting a username and password until after the FITNESSGRAM™ program has launched in September.
